How Many Frames?

As an Optical Buying Group representing Frame Companies - Cases & Accessories as well - we are definitely stepping out-of-the-box with the following statement…but here we go. “You may have too many frames on display in your office.” Can you believe I just said such a thing?

Well by accounting standards, any “business” that carries inventory needs to turn that product a minimum of four times per year. That will maximize cash flow while minimizing obsolescence. With that in mind, simply do the math. If you sell 1,000 frames per year, then your sample frame inventory needs to be in the 250 unit range. 2,000 frames per year?…500 frames on display. It’s an easy rule of thumb for most professional offices.

Now this concept applies on any inventory you purchase. Contact lens inventories probably do not apply for most professionals, because the majority of contacts on-hand these days are considered fitting lenses = you didn’t buy them. But office supplies, eyeglass cases and the aforementioned frames, definitely count.

Finally, use your display frames on Rx whenever possible. It keeps things fresh.

…just a little “good business” practice from your friends at OptiGroup.

We are Up & Running!

Building a website is unique. If I had run across spheres and cylinders – PD sticks and Rx forms – in the process, I’m sure it would have been easier! Nevertheless, here we are.

But let’s talk about you. To make the most of your visit, the first thing you must do is LOGIN, over on the right side. There’s a username box and a password box. But click on Register (if you haven’t already) and follow the brief instructions when they pop-up. A password will instantly be sent to your email address. Complete the registration process and WordPress will lead you the rest of the way. With WordPress you can communicate to the optical buying group world via this website. It’s called BLOGGING!

Now put your mouse over the text, “Comments”…which is right under the heading. A little window will pop-up and say, “Comment on We are Up & Running!” Click on it. At that point you can type like crazy in the blog-space provided. We’ll read (and possibly edit) what you’ve written. We will also respond as needed. That’s how it works.

We plan on blogging about the items you purchase through us. Vendors have promotions and special announcements from time-to-time. We want to highlight those items here. It’s all part of being relevant as an optical buying group – and you can always throw in your 2 cents worth as you comment on our topics. We hope you will find it both fun and useful!

Thanks for visiting – and thanks for choosing OptiGroup!
